Overview of the working session.

In discussions at the meeting, Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Pham Quoc Hung expressed the desire for the PCA to support Viet Nam in improving the legal framework, especially during the drafting process to amend and supplement several articles of the Law on Commercial Arbitration adopted in 2010. This would ensure alignment with Viet Nam’s conditions as well as global economic development practices in the current period.

He also hoped for continued support to Vietnamese legal institutions, particularly experience-sharing in handling international disputes involving the Vietnamese State; and training for Vietnamese judges and court officials on the 1958 United Nations Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards…

The PCA Secretary-General agreed with the proposed cooperation activities put forward by the Deputy Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court of Viet Nam and affirmed the PCA’s readiness to assist and cooperate with the Supreme People’s Court of Viet Nam on the matters raised.
