He founded and trained the Communist Party of Viet Nam and devoted his entire life to the cause of national liberation and the struggle for peace and happiness for the Vietnamese people and people around the world.
He was a shining embodiment of morality, intellect, courage, and the conscience of the era; and a noble symbol of the Vietnamese people’s aspiration for independence, freedom, peace, and happiness. Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style will forever remain the spiritual foundation and guiding compass for the Party and the Vietnamese nation in achieving new victories.
Deeply understanding the pain of losing the country at a young age, at the age of 20, young Nguyen Tat Thanh resolved to leave the country to find a path for national salvation and realise the aspiration for national independence and the people’s happiness. His 30-year journey across many continents was a great voyage of intellect, courage, and patriotic aspiration. Through studying and examining major revolutions, as well as testing various theories and paths of struggle pursued by the working class and colonised peoples worldwide, he came to Marxism-Leninism and found the correct path for national liberation, class liberation, and human emancipation.
He absorbed and creatively applied Marxism-Leninism to the reality in Viet Nam, building a comprehensive theoretical system on the national liberation revolution, defining the goals, path, and methods of revolution in Viet Nam, while preparing all necessary conditions for the birth of a revolutionary political Party. The establishment of the Communist Party of Viet Nam in 1930, together with its first political platform, marked a great turning point in the Vietnamese revolution.
From that moment, under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam headed by President Ho Chi Minh, the Vietnamese people fought resiliently and achieved the great victory of the August Revolution in 1945, leading to the birth of the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, the first people’s democratic state in Southeast Asia, opening a new era — the era of national independence associated with socialism.
Every victory of the Vietnamese revolution has been closely linked to the thought, guidelines, and immense contributions of President Ho Chi Minh. The birth of the Communist Party of Viet Nam affirmed his vision, role, courage, intellect, and prestige.
Throughout the nation’s revolutionary struggle, he continuously applied and creatively developed Marxism-Leninism, together with policies on formulating the Party, and led the people through all hardships and prolonged resistance wars, overthrowing colonial rule, and driving out invading imperialists.
Under the Party’s skilful leadership, the Vietnamese people persevered in resistance while actively building the nation, studying, working, and producing to develop the economy and society, strengthening Party building, consolidating the people’s democratic administration, and promoting the strength of the great national unity bloc. As a result, the northern rear became increasingly strong in all aspects while the great southern frontline secured successive victories, eventually liberating the South and reunifying the country.
President Ho Chi Minh’s immensely rich and great revolutionary career constitutes a precious spiritual asset of the Vietnamese nation, creating an invaluable treasury of thought covering every aspect of the revolutionary cause.
Throughout his life devoted to the nation and the people, he left the Party, the people, and future generations with a priceless ideological legacy and a shining moral example, which have become the ideological foundation and guiding compass of the Vietnamese revolution throughout all historical periods.
Deeply imbued with the values of his thought, throughout the process of safeguarding the Fatherland and building and developing the country, the Party has consistently upheld Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought while creatively applying and developing them in line with Viet Nam’s realities. As a result, the country has achieved great accomplishments of historic significance. The nation continues to develop, the people enjoy increasingly prosperous and happy lives, and the Party grows ever stronger and more mature.
This year’s commemoration of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth anniversary takes place as the country enters a new development phase with new opportunities and requirements.
The successful 14th National Party Congress defined strategic orientations to guide the country into a new era of development for peace, independence, democracy, prosperity, civilisation, and happiness, firmly advancing towards socialism.
The elections of deputies to the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026–2031 tenure have opened a new chapter aimed at improving institutional quality, governance effectiveness, and the capacity to serve the people. The entire political system is urgently implementing the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress while renewing its mindset and operating under a new organisational model with higher requirements for performance, effectiveness, and efficiency in serving the people.
In this context, studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s thought, morality, and style must be elevated to a new level, associated with the need to renew leadership thinking, improve development institutions, strongly promote Vietnamese cultural and human values, and inspire aspirations for contribution and a spirit of responsibility towards the nation.
In remembrance of and gratitude for President Ho Chi Minh’s immense contributions, the entire Party, people, and armed forces pledge loyalty and determination to successfully carry forward his great cause, continue comprehensively advancing the renewal process, resolutely implement the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, and fulfil to the highest degree the goals and tasks set for 2026 and the years ahead, thereby contributing to the successful realisation of the nation’s two centennial strategic goals and the aspiration for a powerful and prosperous country.
The entire Party, people, and armed forces must further deepen their understanding of the enduring values of Ho Chi Minh Thought and creatively apply them under new historical conditions and new requirements, taking reality as the starting point and the interests of the nation and the happiness of the people as the highest objective.
Greater efforts must be made to study and follow his thought, morality, and style in connection with the building and rectification of the Party and the political system, and the development of Vietnamese culture and people, thereby creating spiritual foundations with the strength to act, enabling the country to move firmly forward into a new era — an era of strong and prosperous national development.
