The highlight of the opening ceremony was a street festival featuring more than 100 performers and cultural practitioners, from different ethnic groups in Lai Chau province, including Thai, Mong, Ha Nhi, Lao and Lu.
Dressed in their traditional costumes, they dazzled visitors with folk songs and dances of their ethnic groups, such as a gong performance by Thai ethnic people, the Xoe folk dance of the Ha Nhi ethnic community, and a panpipe performance and ‘senh tien’ folk dance of the Mong people.
In addition, visitors to the programme can explore the beeswax drawing technique of Mong ethnic people, the making and playing of the ‘Tinh’ gourd lute of the Thai ethnic group, and the custom of teeth blackening of Lu people.
Various exciting folk games and fairs displaying delicious dishes and typical OCOP products of Lai Chau, will also be introduced to people and tourists of Ho Chi Minh City on the occasion.
