The ceremony was organised by the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, marking the start of March as Youth Month — an annual initiative now in its 22nd year since being designated by the Party and State.
Addressing the event, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee, Bui Quang Huy, said Youth Month had evolved into an effective leadership and mobilisation model, attracting millions of young people nationwide to undertake significant and challenging tasks, particularly in remote, border, and disadvantaged areas.
This year’s campaign will focus on innovation, voluntary service, and responsibility, aligning with two government emulation movements: promoting innovation, science and technology, digital, and green transition; and fostering private sector growth while enhancing the efficiency of state-owned enterprises. The Youth Union aims to reaffirm young people as a vanguard force in national socio-economic development.
In her keynote remarks, Deputy PM Pham Thi Thanh Tra praised the programme’s concrete objectives and urged that every youth project respond directly to local development needs and deliver lasting value. She called on young people to take the lead in advancing science and technology, digital transformation, and green growth, as well as in building new-style rural areas and urban communities.
“Amid the opportunities of the digital and knowledge economy, I hope each young person nurtures bold ambitions, dares to think differently, act innovatively, and take responsibility,” she said, stressing that entrepreneurship should generate value, jobs, and sustainable growth.
Following the ceremony, delegates and local residents planted trees at the memorial site and presented gifts and livelihood support to policy beneficiary families and disadvantaged pupils.
