The project, designed with 45 classrooms to serve about 1,500 students – including around 350 boarders – will feature comprehensive teaching facilities, dormitories, a multi-purpose hall, canteen and other supporting infrastructure. With a total investment of more than 189.7 billion VND, the school is expected to be completed by August 2027.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Deputy PM Pham Thi Thanh Tra presented 20 gifts and scholarships to outstanding students from disadvantaged backgrounds; and 10 gifts to teachers in difficult circumstances, aiming to encourage them to overcome difficulties and strive for excellence in teaching and learning.
On the same day, the Deputy PM and the delegation visited Oc Eo commune to survey the Oc Eo-Ba The historical site – a special national monument associated with the Oc Eo culture of the ancient Funan Kingdom.
The Oc Eo-Ba The historical site was classified as a special national monument by the Prime Minister in 2012, representing a typical trace of the Oc Eo civilisation. The site has a total planned conservation area of over 433 hectares, including the slopes and foothills of Ba The mountain (Area A) and the Oc Eo plain (Area B).
The Deputy PM requested the Provincial People’s Committee and the Provincial Oc Eo Cultural Relic Management Board to ensure the progress of the project to build a protective roof system for the relic site, and to continue preserving and promoting the heritage value in conjunction with sustainable tourism development.
