Donations given to those directly participating in Dien Bien Phu Campaign

Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee (VFFCC) held a ceremony in Hanoi on April 5 to receive donations from the Vietnam National Union of Bank Workers in tribute to heroic soldiers, wounded and fallen soldiers, young volunteers and frontline workers who directly participated in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign around the country.

The event was attended by the Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and President of the VFFCC, Do Van Chien; former Secretary of the PCC and Head of the PCC’s Commission for Mass Mobilisation; and former Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan.

In celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 – 2024), the VFFCC, in collaboration with Thanh Hoa and Dien Bien Provincial Party Committees, will organise a meeting for soldiers, youth volunteers and frontline workers who directly joined the Dien Bien Phu Campaign in these two provinces on April 6 and 17, respectively.

Within the framework of the meetings, the organising committee will also visit and support the care of relatives of the fallen soldiers, soldiers, youth volunteers and frontline workers during the Dien Bien Phu Campaign.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam National Union of Bank Workers symbolically presented 20 billion VND, and the Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank) gave 2 billion VND as donations to these above meetings.

Addressing the ceremony, the VFFCC’s President Do Van Chien expressed his pleasure at the kindness of officials, party members, staff and workers in the banking sector.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory, the VFFCC has developed a project to mobilise donations for constructing the Great Unity House for poor households in Dien Bien Province. To date, 5,000 houses have been completed over the past nine months, and the next phase will be carried out in five provinces, including Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Son La and Hoa Binh, with 100 houses each.

He said that the construction of Great Unity Houses for the poor in Dien Bien has been highly appreciated by public opinion and people.

Promoting this spirit, the Central Emulation and Commendation Council and the Presidium of the VFFCC launched an emulation movement themed “Erasing temporary and dilapidated houses” nationwide. The first and second phases of the movement are expected to be reviewed on April 30, 2025, and December 31, 2025, respectively, as part of the activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Southern Liberation and National Reunification and the 14th National Party Congress.
