After more than two years of construction, the section from Nga Tu So to Giai Phong intersection has essentially been completed.
Local residents expect that the new route will reduce the prolonged traffic jams at this ‘traffic blackspot’.
Signposts have been hung right at the entrance to Vinh Tuy Bridge.
The road surface has been asphalted and workers have drawn white lines to divide lanes.
The elevated road goes through the four districts of Hai Ba Trung, Hoang Mai, Dong Da, and Thanh Xuan. The route includes a main 19m bridge with 7m-wide approach ramps to connect the bridge with the roads below.
Two sides of the elevated road are equipped with transparent noise-proof glass to limit the influence of noise on nearby houses.
This is the first elevated road project in Hanoi to build a reinforced concrete bridge on mobile scaffolding with directly poured beams, without the transportation of concrete beams by heavy vehicles.
Workers are rushing to finish the final items so that the project can be put into use from early September.
Previously, the construction of the project faced many difficulties in terms of land clearance and traffic flow separation due to the narrow terrain and very large volume of traffic.
It is expected that the route will be open to public on the occasion of National Day, September 2, to reduce the overload on Truong Chinh Road.
