The three-day event is jointly organised by the State Records and Archives Department of Viet Nam (SRA), the Viet Nam Military History Museum, and the Naval Region 3 Command.
The exhibition presents to the public nearly 200 documents, maps, photographs, and archival materials selected from SRA’s national archive centres, the Viet Nam Military History Museum, Naval Region 3 Command, as well as a range of valuable sources collected from archival institutions and libraries both at home and abroad.
The works on display highlight the establishment, exercise, and defence of Viet Nam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, affirming Viet Nam’s maritime and insular sovereignty while underscoring the steadfast resolve, patriotism, and contributions of generations of Vietnamese soldiers and citizens, including officers and sailors of Naval Region 3.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, SRA Deputy Director Nguyen Thi Nga stressed that documents, maps, photographs, and historical materials preserved at national centres, museums, and repositories at home and abroad provide objective, authentic historical and legal evidence for researching and demonstrating Viet Nam’s continuous and peaceful exercise of sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with international law.
For his part, Rear Admiral Nguyen Dang Tien, Secretary of the Party Committee and Political Commissar of Naval Region 3, emphasised that the exhibition constitutes a resolute assertion of Viet Nam’s maritime sovereignty; helping to raise public awareness that maritime and island sovereignty is not an abstract concept but the lifeblood of the Fatherland, a matter of national honour, a strategic interest, and the responsibility of every Vietnamese citizen.
