The event was jointly held by the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (Ministry of Science and Technology), the National Agency for Science and Technology Information and the Vietnamese Female Intellectual Association.
Nearly 200 intellectual properties and innovative solutions in the areas of medicine - pharmacy, biotechnology, automation, information technology, materials - chemicals, food processing, agriculture, and environmental pollution treatment, were introduced at nearly 30 booths run by 38 universities, institutes and enterprises.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Tran Van Tung said, the number of women participating in research accounts for 46% of the total research and development workforce. The Vietnamese community of female intellectuals is very diverse, including female scientists and entrepreneurs in all fields across the country. Female intellectuals have contributed many scientific works with theory value and practical application in many fields of life.
“This year’s World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) themed “Women and IP: Accelerating innovation and creativity”, shows that female intellectuals are becoming the high-quality workforce, contributing to the socio-economic development of all countries, including Vietnam”, Tung emphasised.
Most of the products and technologies on display have been protected under different forms, such as inventions, trademarks, industrial designs, and others. These intellectual properties have also been developed and commercialised by scientists and businesses, to bring about higher value to society.
