The event attracted tens of thousands of people and tourists who came to celebrate the Lunar New Year. The ceremony also saw the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung, along with leaders of Gia Lai province and the local people.
The Tay Son uprising in the latter half of the 18th century is closely linked to the achievements of the three Tay Son brothers: Nguyen Nhac, Nguyen Hue, and Nguyen Lu, most notably Emperor Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue, an outstanding leader, possessing both wisdom and courage, who transformed the Tay Son movement from a peasant uprising into a national liberation struggle.
From a brilliant and victorious general, Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue became a great national hero, a military genius, who overthrew the feudal forces of the Le, Trinh, and Nguyen dynasties, abolished the Gianh River boundary that had divided the country for over 200 years; swept away 50,000 Siamese troops with the resounding victory at Rach Gam-Xoai Mut; and culminated in the historic victory at Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da in 1789, defeating Qing invaders and firmly protecting national independence.
Speaking at the ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Tuan Thanh, stated that 2025 is the first year that Gia Lai province, after the merger, operated under a two-tier local government model. This is in the context of many difficulties and challenges, especially due to the impact of natural disasters, storms, and floods.
However, under the decisive leadership and guidance of the Party Central Committee the Provincial Party Committee; the flexible management of the government at all levels; and the joint efforts and solidarity of the people and the business community, Gia Lai province has gradually stabilised the situation, accelerated progress, and successfully completed the socio-economic development tasks for 2025 and the 2020-2025 term, achieving many important results, he noted.
The year 2026 holds special significance, as it marks the first year of implementing the Resolutions of the Party Congresses at all levels and the Resolution of the 14th National Party Congress, opening a new development phase with the requirement for high growth, he said, adding that leveraging its potential, advantages, and new development opportunities, Gia Lai province continues to effectively mobilise resources for investment and development, striving to achieve a GRDP growth target of 8.8% to 9.4% in 2026, creating a solid foundation for higher growth in subsequent years.
