Ho Chi Minh City: International travel expo boosts sustainable tourism

The 18th Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo 2024 (ITE HCMC) opened on September 5 under the theme ‘Sustainable Tourism, Creating Future’.

In his opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung said that the event aims to encourage participating countries and businesses to promote sustainable tourism development towards reducing emissions and protecting the natural and cultural environment.

He added that this is also an opportunity for Ho Chi Minh City’s hospitality sector to update mechanisms and policies from international experiences that can facilitate the development of the tourism industry.

More than 10,000 business appointments will be arranged within the framework of the expo, together with a tourism forum themed ‘Net Zero Travel & Tourism – Creating Future’, six seminars on sustainable tourism development, exhibitions, survey programmes and other sideline activities.

The ‘Gifts Show Ho Chi Minh City 2024’ showcasing made-in-Vietnam souvenirs, and the ‘Shopping Season 2024 City Sale’ programme offering a diverse range of products with discounts of up to 80% will also be held on the occasion.
