President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society Bui Thi Hoa made the remark at a press brief held in Hanoi on April 25.
The Humanitarian Month 2022 themed “Community cohesion - Spreading acts of kindness” will last from May 1-31 with two major programmes including “Safety for poor and disadvantaged fishermen” and “Nutrition for poor and disabled children”.
The month is also being held to celebrate the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (May 8) and mark the birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19), the founder and first Honorary President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society.
The Humanitarian Month aims to call on everyone to unite with each other through doing kind deeds, thereby creating spillover effects on the community.
The Humanitarian Month has been held annually by the Vietnam Red Cross Society since 2018. Over 1.51 trillion VND has been raised over the past four years, helping more than 3.3 million people in need.
