In 2026, the programme was organised by the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Youth Union in coordination with the Border Guard Command in Son Kim 1 Commune (Ha Tinh Province).
Nguyen Tuong Lam, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union Central Committee and President of the Viet Nam Youth Federation, stated that the activities are being implemented synchronously in border communes nationwide, following a direction of inheritance and development, focusing on three main areas: enhancing education to raise awareness and responsibility of young people in protecting national sovereignty and border security; promoting gratitude, exchange, and fraternal ties; and effectively implementing the project titled “Vietnamese Youth Accompanying Children and Youth in Border Areas for the 2025-2030 Period” linked to digital transformation and sustainable livelihood development.
In Ha Tinh, the highlight of the programme was the "I Love My Homeland" flag-raising ceremony held at border marker 476 on the Viet Nam-Laos border, with the participation of border guards, exemplary youth union members, and local people.
The organisers donated 80 newly printed maps of Viet Nam, featuring 34 provinces and cities, to 80 classrooms at 5 schools, along with 500 national flags and 100 portraits of President Ho Chi Minh for the local people.
On the occasion, the “Lighting up the Border” project in Ha Trai Village was inaugurated, facilitating travel, daily life, and economic development, as well as contributing to security and order. The programme also provided a livelihood model including 2,000 chickens and 1 tonne of animal feed, supporting local youths in starting businesses, stabilising their lives, developing family economies, and contributing to building a strong border region.
In addition, a ceremony to establish fraternal ties between units in the province and Son Kim 1 Commune was organised, strengthening cooperation in youth union and association activities and patriotic emulation movements in the locality.
A secure border is built not only on a defence system but also on the close bond between the people and the border protection forces. Major General Vu Quoc An, Deputy Political Commissar of the Border Guard Command, said that, given the unique characteristics of their operational areas, units under the Border Guard Command are always honoured to cooperate with the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Youth Union in organising the “March Border Month” programme.
The programme was also an opportunity for the young generation of the Border Guard to express their gratitude to the people of the border regions who have always accompanied, shared, and stood shoulder to shoulder in managing and protecting national territorial sovereignty and border security.
The programme was not limited to the launch ceremony but was implemented throughout March by all units under the Command. Youth organisations, members, and young people in the force intensified propaganda efforts to raise awareness among people in border areas about love for their homeland and country, and responsibility in building, managing, and protecting territorial sovereignty, border security, and maritime security; while also doing well in civilian affairs and participating in socio-economic development and poverty alleviation; and organising and participating in volunteer activities, showing gratitude and repaying kindness.
The profound significance of “March at the Border” lies not only in the donated public works and livelihood models but also in the spirit of “When drinking water, remember its source” spreading through these acts of gratitude.

Throughout March, youth border guard delegations visit each village, offering greetings and gifts to village elders, community leaders, and influential figures — the resilient “living landmarks” on the border. With sincere affection and sharing, they become a pillar of support and an important force alongside the Border Guard in protecting national sovereignty and border security.
Beyond March, the Border Guard Command has been actively and continuously implementing the program through many practical activities. Youth Union organisations and members within the force have intensified propaganda efforts to raise awareness among members and people in border areas about love for their homeland and country and responsibility in building, managing, and protecting national sovereignty and border security.
“March at the Border” has become a widespread revolutionary movement, arousing the spirit of dedication of Youth Union members and young people nationwide, especially the young generation of the Border Guard.
Each project and each task not only contributes to improving livelihoods and enhancing the material and spiritual lives of the people but also fosters patriotism and a sense of responsibility to protect the sacred sovereignty of the Fatherland in each citizen, especially the younger generation.
