The Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter, in Hoan Kiem District, opened a series of meaningful activities, in the Hanoi Old Quarter area, on April 18, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).

Speaking at the ceremony, Pham Tuan Long - Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee emphasised that this series of activities not only honors the important historical milestone of the nation but also joins the atmosphere of celebrating the 139th anniversary of International Labour Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025), the 71st anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025).

This is an opportunity for Hanoi to introduce the quintessence of traditional craft villages, bringing unique cultural experiences to people and tourists.

From April 18 to June 1, 2025, the series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, Hanoi Old Quarter becomes a unique cultural space. Here, people and tourists have the opportunity to enjoy many attractive cultural activities, displays and exhibitions associated with traditional craft villages.

Notable among them are the exhibition of rattan and bamboo weaving named "Made of Tre"; the exhibition of art installations about Hang Bac craft street by artist Le Duc The Son at Kim Ngan Communal House; exhibitions and workshops; exhibition of propaganda paintings at the Centre for Culture and Arts (22 Hang Buom); and a space for introducing and exchanging culture and tourism between Hanoi and Phu Yen at the Old Quarter Heritage Information Centre (28 Hang Buom).

Under the talented hands of the craftsman, the mother-of-pearl and snail shells, after being cleaned, cut, polished, flattened, have become unique artistic materials. When attached to objects and paintings, they shine with sparkling beauty, contributing to the creation of sophisticated mother-of-pearl inlay works of high artistic and aesthetic value.
