Lam Dong to become a health “charging station” for visitors

The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong is set to become a “supermarket” of clean agricultural products for the entire country and a refreshing destination, a health “charging station” for tourists by capitalising on its natural, cultural, and historical advantages.

Da Lat is a refreshing destination for tourists.

This vision was shared at a seminar on the green economy and sustainable development held by Lam Dong Province in collaboration with Viet Nam National University - Ho Chi Minh City (VNU-HCM) on May 30.

In his opening remarks, Lam Dong Deputy Chairman Dinh Van Tuan stated that the province has become a national leader in high-tech agricultural production, with many of its agricultural brands having gained recognition both domestically and internationally.

According to him, global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion, environmental pollution, and urbanisation pressure demand a shift towards development models that are low-emission, resource-efficient, technologically advanced, and reliant on renewable energy.

In the current context, the province has identified the green economy, digital economy, and circular economy as core pillars of development. These fields are closely tied to transforming growth models, protecting ecosystems, and improving quality of life.

The seminar featured fifty papers discussing green economy and sustainable development in Viet Nam and Lam Dong Province, along with practical solutions for implementing the Party and government’s green growth policies in the context of international integration and global climate change.

Speaking at the event, VNU-HCM Vice President Nguyen Minh Tam emphasised that with Viet Nam’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, sectors such as manufacturing, transport, agriculture, urban development, and energy are all undergoing transformative change. The labour market must also adapt, requiring new skills and mindsets geared toward sustainable development.

In this context, scientific research, particularly from specialised seminars, will serve as an essential foundation for policymaking, raising public awareness, guiding training, and driving action at all levels.

Many participants also analysed issues related to high-tech agriculture combined with rural tourism; the application of technology in green economic development; and waste treatment as a source of organic inputs for sustainable agriculture.

Experts and scientists agreed that Lam Dong’s green economy is the crystallisation of its advantages in natural conditions, resources, culture, and history.

By harnessing these strengths, Lam Dong aims to assert its position in high-tech agriculture and tourism. It will become a “supermarket” of green, clean agricultural products for the entire country, and a rejuvenating destination — a health “charging station” for travellers.
