Laos marks 95th birthday of President Kaysone Phomvihane

A ceremony was held to commemorate the 95th birthday of late Lao President Kaysone Phomvihane in his hometown, Savannakhet province, on December 13.

Present at the ceremony were Lao Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Langsavath, Minister of Planning and Investment Somdy Duongdy and Governor of Savannakhet province Suphane Keomisay, among other distinguished guests.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Suphane Keomisay expressed his gratitude towards the dedication of the late President to the country and its people.

He gave an overview of the late president’s life and career, saying that he was the most brilliant strategist and hero of the Lao nation, who had led the country’s revolution to the final victory.

A series of celebrations are also underway in Viengsay, Houaphanh province where late President Kaysone Phomvihane had lived and worked for the revolutionary cause over many years.
