More than 2,000 “little flowers” showcase talents at first National Children’s Festival

More than 2,000 children from mountainous, border, and island areas, from villages to urban centres, brought the cultural colours, talents, and beautiful stories of their homelands to the first National Children’s Festival.

The first National Children’s Festival 2026 officially opened at Da Lat Stadium in Lang Biang-Da Lat Ward, Lam Dong Province, on the evening of June 19, with the participation of more than 2,000 children and officers in charge of children’s affairs from 34 provinces and cities nationwide.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Le Hai Long, Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation, said that under the theme “Vietnamese Children Welcome the Youth Union Congress”, the festival reflects the affection, trust, and expectations of children across the country towards the 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for the 2026–2031 tenure, while responding to Action Month for Children 2026.

With the message “Brilliant Colours – Connecting Love – Giving Wings to the Future”, the festival hopes to nurture more good seeds, discover more talents, and foster more dreams, so that they may one day contribute to building a prosperous, developed, and happy Viet Nam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dinh Van Tuan, Vice Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People’s Committee, emphasised that the festival is an event of profound political and social significance, demonstrating the special attention of the Party, the State, all levels, sectors, and society as a whole to the care, education, and protection of children, the future owners of the country.

He expressed his belief that through the festival’s diverse and practical activities, children would gain more useful experiences, improve their life skills, and raise their sense of responsibility towards themselves, their families, and society, while nurturing love for the homeland and the country, national pride, and the aspiration to rise.

After the opening ceremony, the children immersed themselves in special musical performances full of childhood innocence, praising the homeland, the country, beloved President Ho Chi Minh, and the beauty of Vietnamese culture.

The first National Children’s Festival takes place from June 18 to 20, featuring a wide range of activities, including the carnival “Brilliant Colours Welcoming Friends from Around the World”, the national final of the “Vietnamese Children – Reaching Out to the World” playground, a chess tournament, the “Excellent Young Pioneer Commander” contest, exhibitions and painting activities, creative performances, and a Vovinam martial arts and music mass performance to set a Viet Nam record.

In addition, the children will visit a modern learning space, experience interaction with robots at the AI Centre of Da Lat University, and take part in many cultural, scientific, and technical exchange activities.

On this occasion, the organisers presented 10 digital learning spaces to schools in border areas of 10 provinces and cities, totalling 1.8 billion VND.
