National Children's Festival held for first time

The first National Children's Festival, taking place in Lam Dong Province from June 18-20, features a wide range of activities, including the final round of the "Reach for Your Dreams" programme, the final round of the Viet Nam Children's Chess Championship, and a Vovinam martial arts performance aimed at setting a Vietnamese record.

Organised by the Central Council of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organisation in coordination with relevant agencies, the festival brings together more than 2,000 children and youth leaders from 34 provinces and centrally run cities nationwide.

The event is a nationwide activity held during the 2026 Action Month for Children and is intended to celebrate the 13th National Congress of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union for the 2026-2031 term.

During the three-day festival, young delegates are taking part in a variety of exchange, experiential and talent-development activities, including the "Colours of Friendship" carnival; the National Excellent Young Pioneer Commander Contest; and the exhibition and painting programme "Vietnamese Children Protect Wildlife".

They also compete in the national finals of the "Vietnamese Children Reaching Out to the World" programme, the final round of the "Reach for Your Dreams" competition, and a chess exchange event.

Other highlights include hands-on experiences with science and technology, smart robots, a mass Vovinam martial arts performance seeking to establish a Vietnamese record, and a range of cultural, artistic and sporting activities.

The festival provides children from across the country with an opportunity to meet, exchange experiences, learn from one another, develop their talents, strengthen their skills, nurture their dreams and foster creativity and aspiration.

At the same time, the event reaffirms the attention paid by the Party, the State, youth organisations and society as a whole to the protection, care and education of children.

Carrying the message "Colours of Brilliance – Connecting Love – Inspiring the Future", the first National Children's Festival 2026 is expected to become a major celebration for Vietnamese children, bringing together young talents, promoting positive values and inspiring the nation's younger generation.
