On January 21, as part of humanitarian efforts following the natural disaster, during the last two weeks of January 2026, the Department of Dike Management and Disaster Prevention and Control under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, CARE Viet Nam, in close coordination with local authorities in Dak Lak and Gia Lai provinces, and the Dak Lak Provincial Community Development Centre, implemented a multi-purpose cash distribution programme for households severely affected by Typhoon Kalmaegi and subsequent flooding.
The support programme was carried out in four communes: Yang Mao, Dong Xuan, and Phu Mo in Dak Lak province, and Tuy Phuoc Dong commune in Gia Lai province.
These are the localities that suffered severe damage to housing and livelihoods due to floods, flash floods, and landslides caused by Typhoon Kalmaegi and the heavy rains at the end of November 2025.
The households supported in this project belong to the group of disadvantaged households, households with women as the main breadwinners, elderly people, and families who lost all their property after the floods. Each household received 4 million VND in cash, helping them to be self-sufficient in purchasing necessities or reinvesting in seedlings and livestock after the storm. In addition, 11 households in Yang Mao commune (Dak Lak province) each received 25 million VND to repair their houses.
