Over 370 billion VND supported children during the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival

Nearly six million children were given gifts, worth more than 370 billion VND, during the 2023 Mid-Autumn Festival, of which, the State budget supported more than 10.5 billion VND, and social contributions were more than 360 billion VND.

The information has recently been released by the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).

According to the Department of Children under the MoLISA, reports from 46 provinces and cities, showed that nearly 6 million children have been given gifts, such as scholarships, cakes, candy, milk, books, clothes and bicycles, on the occasion of Mid-Autumn Festival, with a total value of over 370 billion VND.

The Vietnam Children’s Fund has mobilised and supported nearly 23,000 children, with over 20 billion VND, on the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival and the 2023-2024 school year.

According to the MoLISA, as of December 2022, the country had about 25 million children. The ratio of children with special circumstances to the total child population decreased to 6.8%, in 2022.

The proportion of children with special circumstances receiving assistance increased every year, reaching 74% in 2022.
