The delegates expressed their deep respect and boundless sorrow at the passing of Tran Duc Luong – a resilient communist soldier, a exemplary leader, and an outstanding scientist who devoted his life to the motherland, as well as to strengthening relations between Viet Nam and other countries, especially the Viet Nam-Laos relationship.
During the two days of national mourning on May 24-25, the Viet Nam Consulate General in Pakse received more than 24 delegations who came to to pay their respects to former State President Tran Duc Luong.
These included high-ranking delegations from the provinces of Champasak, Attapeu, Sekong, Salavan; the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Pakse; the Overseas Vietnamese Associations of Champasak, Sekong, Salavan, and Attapeu provinces; the Viet Nam Business Association in southern Laos; the Representative Office of the Department of Industry and Trade of Da Nang City in southern Laos; and a large number of the Vietnamese expats.
While conveying their deepest condolences to the Vietnamese Party, State and people, the leaders of the four southern Lao provinces hailed that former State President Tran Duc Luong was a close friend of the Lao Party, State, and people, and played an important role in the flourishing development of the great friendship between the two countries.
They also expressed their hope that future generations of the two countries will continue to further develop the Viet Nam-Laos relationship in a deep, practical, and effective manner across all fields.
