Photo exhibition “80 Years – A Confident Viet Nam” reaches students

On December 23, in Ha Noi, the Faculty of Communication and External Culture of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, in coordination with photographer Nguyen A, organised a seminar and photo exhibition in Ha Noi under the theme “80 Years – A Confident Viet Nam”.

Speaking at the opening of the programme, Nguyen Manh Dong, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, Nguyen Manh Dong expressed his pleasure at cooperating with photographer Nguyen A to organise hold this meaningful event right on campus. Bringing tThe photo exhibition and the introduction of the photo book “80 Years – A Confident Viet Nam” by photographer Nguyen A have been brought to the Aacademy with the aims to help students better understand the country’s development achievements, while at the same time inspiring within them a sense of pride and love for the nation among them.

Alongside the photo exhibition, the a seminar entitled “Telling the National Story in Cultural Communication” also took place.

At the seminar, students had the opportunity to listen to speakers such as photographer Nguyen A; Major General Hoang Kim Phung, former Director of the Viet Nam Department of Peacekeeping Operations; and Lieutenant Ngo Lam Phuong, head of the female military medical officers’ contingent, who had the honour of participating in two major national events: the military parade and march commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (Mission A50), and the military parade and march marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 (Mission A80). Many other delegates also shared stories about promoting Viet Nam’s image to international friends, especially from the perspective of cultural communication and cultural diplomacy.

At the seminar, photographer Nguyen A conveyed positive messages to the students. He said that he strongly wishesd to share many beautiful stories about the people featured in his photographs, as they haved inspired him in life. Having travelled extensively and gained wide-ranging experiences, Nguyen A clearly felt the development and transformation of Viet Nam over the past decades. From thisAs a result, he aspiresd to widely spread positive images of the country, especially among young people.

The seminar and photo exhibition have contributed to clarifying the role of culture and the arts as important tools of cultural communication and cultural diplomacy in the context of deep international integration.
