After the first two nights of competition, the DIFF 2023 has become more attractive. Da Nang City is experiencing vibrant and bustling days with tens of thousands of visitors admiring fantastic fireworks displays.
As the first performer, the Australian team showcase an extremely elaborate light show with 7,500 pyrotechnic devices. Within 22 minutes, the Howard & Sons team recreate a modern Australia.
The spectators witness the ups and downs of Australia in particular and of humanity in general, from the catastrophic forest fires in early 2020 to the challenge of pandemics. People can feel the solidarity of the Australian people in the face of difficulties, as well as hope for a bright future.
Christian Anthony Howard, head of the Australian team, says that his team brings new ideas, new products and new music to this year’s festival and he is confident about a victory.
The Italian team have been the winner of the DIFF for two consecutive years (in 2017 and 2018), and this year, the team features vibrant colours, lighting up the sky of Da Nang.
The ‘light paintings’ of the Italian team are inspired by Lucio Fontana’s artistic masterpiece, under the theme “Ancient Space and Modern Light”.

He noted that his team is very excited about the theme “The World Without Distance" of DIFF 2023, which conveys a message that despite the differences in language, skin colour, and ethnicity, everyone can connect.
The Australian and Italian teams have been strong teams of DIFF through the seasons and both have won the championship.
