A video on social media shows a motorbike with three people that was moving speedily on a slope in Tam Dao due to brake failure being pulled back by Chien to get it stop successfully.
In his letter, President Phuc spoke highly of Chien’s swift and heroic act and said he was further moved to learn that the man has been the saviour of many others on the same road.
The State leader emphasised that Chien’s act is a bright example of bravery and chivalry to help those in danger, which deserves praise and replication in the community.
He also took the occasion to remind road users to check their vehicles thoroughly before departure, maintain concentration, and comply with traffic laws when driving, as well as help others on the road if necessary.
The President asked the authorities to take measures to minimise road accidents, especially on passes and slopes, and to step up communication to enhance awareness and skills for road users.
