The event formed part of a broader forum focused on promoting innovation and advancing strategic technology sectors, held within the framework of the Viet Nam International Innovation Expo (VIIE) 2025.

VietLeap AI Accelerator is a flagship initiative among several activities led by JICA to support the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Viet Nam, contributing to the creation of a robust and sustainable innovation ecosystem.

The announcement not only marks the introduction of an annual programme dedicated exclusively to AI startups, but also reaffirms Japan’s commitment to supporting Viet Nam in its ambition to become a regional hub for strategic technologies such as AI.

According to the organisers, the programme is designed to assist early-stage AI startups in product development, enhancing business capabilities, preparing for fundraising, and connecting with the global investment community. As the first specialised accelerator for AI in Viet Nam, it represents a significant milestone in building the national AI innovation and startup ecosystem.

The programme aims to select between 10 and 15 early-stage AI startups with demonstrable growth potential and fundraising needs. Selected participants will benefit from access to partner networks, strategic business linkages, and market expansion opportunities to foster sustainable growth.

Startups will also receive infrastructure and technological support, including access to advanced resources such as cloud computing credits, high-performance GPU infrastructure, APIs, and essential business toolkits provided by leading technology partners—accelerating product development and enabling effective scaling.

In addition, participants will benefit from capacity-building and mentoring, including one-to-one guidance from industry experts to refine business models, optimise market access strategies, and enhance operational performance.

Importantly, the programme will prepare startups for fundraising by supporting the development of compelling pitch decks, validating business models, and ensuring investment readiness through connections with venture capital funds and prominent financial partners.
