According to Box Office Viet Nam, as of 7 p.m. of September 2, the revenue of “Red Rain” had reached more than 426 billion VND from all cinema chains nationwide. At present, “Red Rain” is the most popular and sold-out film across nearly all cinema systems in the country. Many audiences have been unable to purchase tickets for prime showtimes as they have sold out well in advance.

With revenue of 426 billion VND, “Red Rain” has officially been listed in the top five highest-grossing films in the history of Vietnamese cinema. The film’s daily revenue has reached around 50 billion VND.

“Red Rain” is a fictional film inspired by the 81-day battle at Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. It was produced by the People’s Army Cinema and directed by Meritorious Artist Dang Thai Huyen. This is the third film about revolutionary war released commercially, following the experimental “Peach Blossom, Pho and Piano” in early 2024 and “Tunnels: Sun in the Dark” released during the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification.

The film features many young actors, with some making their debut in cinema yet delivering deeply emotional performances for audiences. Characters such as Cuong (Do Nhat Hoang), Hong (Ha Anh), Ta (Do Nhat Quang), Hai (Nguyen Hung), Quang (Steven Nguyen), Tu (Nguyen Dinh Khanh), Tan (Tran Gia Huy), and Sen (Le Hoang Long) have all been widely discussed on social media platforms.
