Renovated King Mai Hac De temple inaugurated in Ha Tinh province

A temple dedicated to King Mai Hac De King who led an uprising against China’s Tang Dynasty in the 8th century was inaugurated in the central province of Ha Tinh province on February 12.

The temple was renovated and expanded over an area of 1,000 square metres at a total cost of VND105 billion (US$4.7 million) in Mai Phu commune of Loc Ha district.

Earlier, a 10.8m-high bronze statue of the king was casted at the Mai Hac De Square in the coastal commune.

Mai Hac De, whose real name was Mai Thuc Loan, was leader of the 722 uprising against Chinese rule and proclaimed himself king of Vietnam.
