Besides heavy rains and strong winds triggered by tropical cyclones, the country is also expected to see other dangerous weather events such as thunderstorms, whirlwinds, hailstorms, flash floods and landslides.
Due to the impact of southeast winds, medium to heavy rains occurred in the northern mountainous region and the north central provinces of Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, increasing the risk of landslides in these provinces.
In Nghe An province, a flash flood over the night of September 17 inundated at least 30 houses and crops in Yen Tinh and Tuong Duong districts of Nghe An province.
Several villages were cut off entirely while more than 100 pupils at a local boarding school had to be evacuated.
