Rainfall is expected to range from 30-70 millimetres while some places may see up to 120 millimetres of rain in 24 hours.

Meanwhile there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms in the Red River Delta with medium to heavy rain forecast for a number of locations.

In the Gulf of Tonkin and the northern region of the East Sea, northeastern winds are expected to strengthen to level 5 and then to level 6 and 7.

The national weather agency also warned of possible landslides in northern mountainous regions as the weather turns cold along with rains and thunderstorms.

Due to the cold air, temperatures dropped to 15.6C in Sapa (Lao Cai province) and 14.4C in Sin Ho (Lai Chau province) on October 14.
