The ventilators were donated from Van Lang University and Van Thinh Phat Group, while the financial support came from Truong Quoc Chinh, the owner of the Hoa Lan Resort.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Cao Tri, Chairman of the Council of Van Lang University, representing the donors, said to lend a hand in the fight against COVID-19, Metran Company and two sponsors, Van Lang University and Van Thinh Phat Group, have worked closely to produce and donate 500 MV20 ventilators worth VND120 billion for the treatment of COVID-19 patients as soon as possible.
The ventilators donated at the event are among 2,000 MV20 ventilators produced based on manufacturing technology transferred from Metran Company (Japan), with all costs covered by Van Lang University and Van Thinh Phat Group.
Based on clinical research results at Bach Mai Hospital and Cho Ray Hospital, the State-level professional council and management agency at the Ministry of Health confirmed that the MV20 ventilator had met the relevant standards and is suitable for the purpose of preventing and fighting COVID-19.

At the ceremony, Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long expressed his thanks to the VFF and donors, saying that the meaningful gift also demonstrates Vietnam's ability to produce ventilators and hi-tech medical equipment.
Long said his ministry will allocate the ventilators to hospitals treating COVID-19 patients as well as supplementing provincial hospitals to serve their treatment facilities.
VFF President Tran Thanh Man praised the noble acts of the donors and expressed his wish that they would continue to accompany the Party, State and Government in the prevention and control of COVID-19.
Man also called on the relevant agencies, units, organisations, enterprises and individuals both at home and abroad to provide support to the COVID-19 fight in Vietnam.
More support sent to Da Nang
On the same day, working delegations of medical staff from Binh Dinh and Hai Phong left for Da Nang to support the COVID-19-hit city in its fight against the pandemic. The central coastal city has emerged as new hotbed for the coronavirus in Vietnam with more than 140 cases in the last 10 days.
Vice Chairman of the Binh Dinh Provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh said that the local medical staff will head to Da Nang on August 6. The team includes 25 doctors and nurses.
Meanwhile, a team of 33 medical workers from the northern city of Hai Phong are flying to the central city this afternoon.

Hai Phong has also given Da Nang City and Quang Nam Province VND5 billion and 200,000 medical face masks each.
Hai Phong City Party Committee Secretary Le Van Thanh affirmed that if Hai Phong avoids any positive cases for SARS-CoV-2 as it is currently, the city will continue to support Da Nang and Quang Nam.
The Da Nang City People's Committee also today received an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine worth VND3.5 billion donated from the DHC Suoi Doi Corporation to support the city in treating its COVID-19 patients.
