The flight was arranged by Vietnamese functional agencies, the Vietnamese embassy in the US, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airline, and relevant agencies of the host country.
The passengers came from different states in the US and included the elderly, children aged under 18, workers with expired labour contracts, stranded visitors, and students with no accommodation due to hostel closure.
Prior to the flight, the Vietnamese embassy in the US was active in supporting the stranded citizens in the completion of the boarding process.
Strict security and safety measures on disease prevention and control were closely observed during the flight to protect the health of passengers and prevent the spread of the disease.
Upon their arrival at Van Don International Airport in Quang Ninh Province, all passengers and crew members were given health checks and quarantined as per regulations.
On the morning of August 12, a total of 207 domestic visitors, who were unable to leave Da Nang as the central city has entered social distancing to stem the spread of COVID-19, returned to Hanoi on a flight arranged by Da Nang city’s Tourism Department in collaboration with Vietnam Airlines.
At the airport, the passengers received gifts and thank-you letters from Da Nang city’s leaders.
They were among 1,453 stranded visitors to fly home on seven flights which have departed from Da Nang from August 12 to 14.
