The festival featured art performances and a trade fair showcasing agricultural and tourism products from the districts of Muong La and Bac Yen in Son La Province; and districts Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, and Van Chan in Yen Bai Province.
Festivalgoers were also invited to experience paragliding rides, take part in a traditional cake making contest, and join folk games and sports including crossbow shooting and stick pushing.
On the occasion, Ngoc Chien Commune was officially recognised as the largest Son Tra flower forest in the country.
‘Son tra’, also known as ‘tao meo’ (Docynia indica), is a distinctive tree that holds great economic value for the Mong ethnic people in the northwest region. In recent years, it has significantly contributed to the region's economic growth and improved the livelihoods of the local population.
Son Tra Flower Festival aims to promote the beauty of the distinctive flower as well as the land, people, and culture of ethnic groups in Muong La District to visitors, thus contributing to fostering the local socio-economic development.
