Strong confidence ignited among Vietnamese business community in Cambodia

Joy and deep emotion are shared sentiments among members of the Viet Nam–Cambodia Business Association (VCBA) when speaking about the 14th National Party Congress. The Congress was not only a major domestic political event, but also a powerful signal of new opportunities, encouraging overseas businesses to stand alongside the homeland in an era of breakthrough development.

Following the closing session of the 14th National Party Congress on the afternoon of January 23, VCBA Chairman Oknha Leng Rithy said that although far from the homeland, association members were deeply moved as they watched on screen and felt that the outcomes of the Congress brought a fresh vitality of unity and steely determination across the entire Party and the whole nation.

Oknha Leng Rithy noted that the 14th Party Central Committee’s unanimous decision to elect To Lam, General Secretary of the 13th Party Central Committee, to continue serving as General Secretary was a recognition of his leadership capacity, intellect and resolve in pursuing correct, effective and decisive strategies and policies in recent times.

In an interview with a correspondent of Nhan Dan Newspaper based in Cambodia, the VCBA Chairman stressed that the message of an “era of national rise” put forward by the Congress had strongly inspired the business community. This was not merely a political orientation, but a call to action, urging every Vietnamese entrepreneur abroad to continue striving in line with the country’s new standing.

Oknha Leng Rithy affirmed that the 14th National Congress was not simply a transitional congress, but a historic milestone opening a new era for the nation. Its greatest significance lay in establishing a strategic vision that rekindled aspirations for self-reliance and nationwide unity, with the aim of turning Viet Nam into a developed country.

For the Vietnamese business community in Cambodia, the VCBA Chairman emphasised that the Congress had powerfully reinforced three pillars of confidence. These included confidence in stability and breakthrough, as the Party’s decisions demonstrated determination to create an enabling environment and remove institutional bottlenecks, allowing businesses to invest with long-term assurance. There was also confidence in national stature, as the country’s enhanced position created more opportunities for overseas Vietnamese businesses to connect and compete internationally.

The Vietnamese business community in Cambodia firmly believes that the companionship of the Party and the State in the new era will help overseas enterprises confidently bring Vietnamese brands to the global stage.

Dr Heng LiHong, Standing Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of VCBA, expressed particular admiration for the Congress documents outlining development objectives for the 2026–2030 period, with a vision to 2045.

Dr Heng LiHong observed that the documents were built upon great aspirations, with clear and solid roadmaps, laying the groundwork for strategic breakthroughs and long-term national orientations. He continued to express hope for further institutional breakthroughs, administrative procedure reform and improvements to the investment and business environment, especially policies supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as overseas Vietnamese businesses returning to invest and connect with the domestic market.

VCBA Vice Chairwoman Sok Channda shared her strong impression of the Congress’s message that “the people are the root”, which clearly reflected the spirit of placing people and businesses at the centre of all policies. The Congress further strengthened confidence in the orientation for developing Vietnamese enterprises, while reaffirming the Party’s close companionship with overseas Vietnamese communities.

To accompany the country into the era of national rise, VCBA leaders said the association consistently identifies its role as a trusted bridge between the Vietnamese business community in Cambodia and the relevant authorities of both countries, while serving as an active force in strengthening and developing Viet Nam–Cambodia friendship relations.

Building on its current membership base, which mainly comprises Vietnamese enterprises, VCBA plans to expand its membership to include Cambodian businesses in 2026, contributing to balanced and sustainable cooperation and aiming to raise bilateral Viet Nam–Cambodia trade turnover to around 20 billion USD.

The association also places emphasis on nurturing a next generation of young entrepreneurs, enhancing governance capacity, legal compliance awareness and social responsibility, thereby building an image of Vietnamese enterprises as reputable, professional and sustainably developing in Cambodia.
