VNPT-Vinaphone is formed from the former mobile carrier Vinaphone, telecoms infrastructure company VTN, VNPT International, the Vietnam Data Communication Company (VDC) and a number of units of local VNPT branches in 63 cities and provinces.
With charter capital of VND5.2 trillion (US$239.2 million), VNPT-Vinaphone’s major businesses are in telecommunications services. The corporation aims to post revenues of VND26 trillion (US$1.2 billion) and pre-tax profits of VND3.3 trillion (US$151.8 million) by 2020.
VNPT-Media will focuses on the development of software, entertainment and television services with charter capital of VND2.3 trillion (US$105.8 million) while VNPT-Net will be responsible for operating telecommunications infrastructure.
Last year, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung approved Mobifone to become a separate entity, one of the three largest mobile service providers in Vietnam, in an effort to restructure telecoms giant VNPT.
