Located in An Khanh commune, Dai Tu district in northern Thai Nguyen province, the 120MW plant was invested in by An Khanh company with total capital of VND4.3 trillion (US$190 million).
After four years of construction and equipment installation, the plant conducted a pilot run and officially connected to the national grid last April, providing 800 million kWh annually and creating employment for 450 local workers.
The plant has contributed hundreds of billions of dong to the provincial budget, contributing greatly to the national cause of industrialisation and ensuring energy security.
Chairman of the Board of An Khanh JSC Nguyen Van Thang said that An Khanh thermal power plant project was a new-generation power plant and the only major power plant among four thermal power projects by Vietnamese private enterprises approved by the Prime Minister and completed on schedule in the last five years.
On the occasion, the President awarded the Labour Order, third class to An Khanh company in recognition of its efforts in production and positive contributions to the locality.
The company is now making preparations for construction of An Khanh 2 Thermal Power Plant with a capacity of 300MW at a total investment of VND10 trillion (US$440 million), scheduled for 2016 in Pho Yen town.
