Three additional gold medals for Vietnam at SEA Games

Nhan Dan Online - Vietnam won three more gold medals on Tuesday, consolidating their second place on the provisional SEA Games; now holding nine gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.

Pham Quoc Khanh won the men's Nangun discipline with 9.7 points and took the last gold medal for the national Wushu team. The team wrapped up their SEA Games competition spectacularly, earning a total of five gold, three silver and four bronze, exceeding the target set prior to the games of two to three gold.

The remaining two gold medals went to wrestlers Pham Thi Hue and Pham Thi Loan in the women's freestyle 55kg and 59kg categories. The two Vietnamese girls overpowered their Myanmar opponents, Aye Aye and Kyu Kyu Thein, 8-0 in the finals to take top honours.

Another wrestler Khong Van Khoa contributed a bronze medal earned in the men's 74kg classical discipline.

Canoeing players: Nguyen Thi Mai, Nguyen Thi Duyen, Nguyen Thi Le and Kieu Thi Hao, secured Vietnam's only silver medal in today's competition in the women's 1,000m K4 event, whilst their teammates, Nguyen Thanh Sang and Luu Van Vung, clinched a bronze in the men's 1,000m C2 category.

On the same day, the Vietnam national flag hoisting ceremony was held at the Athletes' Village in Naypyidaw with the presence of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh and Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar Pham Thanh Dung.
