After seven seasons, the Top 10 Awards have become a hallmark in the Vietnamese architectural and interior design industry, with over 1,000 projects submitted by more than 700 design units nationwide.
In 2024, the awards received 349 entries across three categories of residential, interior, and green projects, reflecting the diversity of design language and the growing influence of creative, sustainable thinking within the architectural and design community.
More than a celebration of aesthetics, the Top 10 Awards serve as a platform where architecture tells stories of people, culture, living environments, and responsibility for the future. From now until May 18, the programme will feature a diverse range of activities, including meet-and-greets with award-winning architects, themed talk shows, exhibitions, traditional craft art performances, and creative workshops focused on recycled materials.
Douglas Lee Snyder, Head of the Jury for the Top 10 Green Projects category, shared: “We’ve witnessed many exciting combinations of technology and materials in this year’s projects, especially the growing adoption of passive design strategies – a very encouraging trend. Many projects have made effective use of traditional materials to regulate microclimates, such as thatched roofs and green rooftops in urban areas, or using bamboo in facades to reduce heat and enhance sustainability.”
Running alongside the awards ceremony was the launch of the Top 10 Pavilion 2024 exhibition, with its centrepiece being a dome made from do paper – a traditional Vietnamese handmade material symbolising rustic beauty and enduring memory. The creases on the paper surface convey the stories of nature and the hands of the craftsmen. Interwoven into the do paper are layers of recycled plastic, representing the aspiration to revive discarded materials in a world transforming for the sake of the environment.
Speaking about the exhibition's message, architect Vuong Dao Hoang, Head of the Organising Committee, emphasised: “Materials once discarded, when reborn, are no longer waste but become a material for reflection. They carry an urgent spirit – that we must confront the consequences of consumerism and actively seek more sustainable directions for our living environment.”
On this occasion, Mr Vuong Dao Hoang also officially launched the Top 10 Awards 2025 on behalf of the Organising Committee.
The Top 10 Awards is an annual recognition programme highlighting key trends in Vietnamese architecture, interior design, and green building. It was initiated and organised by Kienviet Media since 2018, with professional endorsement from the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC), the Vietnam Interior Association (VNIA), and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM).
The awards aim to honour outstanding authors and works, highlight aesthetic and creative value, promote the development of the architectural-interior-green building sectors, and contribute to the broader growth of Vietnam’s cultural and creative industries while enhancing the global value of Vietnamese creative products.
