Touching emotions from “Homeland in Our Hearts” concert lingers on

From the dazzling stage at My Dinh Stadium on the night of August 10, filled with a sea of flags and flowers, to today’s silver screen, “Homeland in Our Hearts: The Concert Film”—released on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2)—continues the emotional journey of pride and love for the Fatherland.

This special cinematic work brings back proud memories through the language of film, allowing every viewer—no matter where they are—to share in the collective sense of national pride.

Thorough preparation from the very beginning

On the afternoon of October 16, at CGV Metropolis Cinema (Lieu Giai, Ha Hoi), as the screen lit up and the first notes of music echoed, the audiences clasped their hands, eyes glistening, hearts stirred at the sight of a stage illuminated by the red of the national flag.

The film’s cinematic camera angles—from sweeping aerial shots to intimate behind-the-scenes glimpses, from the orchestra’s perspective to the flashes of stage lights—opened up a breathtaking world, one even those present at the original concert had never seen before.

Every glance, every smile, every bead of sweat on the faces of the artists and audience members appeared vividly and sincerely, evoking genuine emotion.

As they watched the film, audiences saw themselves on screen—hearing familiar sounds and witnessing heartfelt moments behind the curtain, filled with passion for art and love for the homeland. Scene by scene, tears welled up; hands quietly wiped them away. The music, the light, the expressions—all touched something deep within: the pride that the Homeland lives forever in Vietnamese people’s heart.

At the film’s premiere, Member of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh, Deputy Head of the PCC’s Commission for Communications, Education and Mass Mobilisation, and Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists Association, shared with the first viewers his deep hopes, dedication, and sincere invitation for the film to become a heartfelt journey that continues to spread widely among the people and international friends. He emphasised that “Homeland in Our Hearts: The Concert Film” is a profound tribute to the Fatherland and the sacred values of the Vietnamese nation.

The film’s cinematic artistry, with shots from above, from backstage, behind the orchestra, and under the sparkle of flashlights, unveils a world of wonder even those who attended the original concert had never experienced.

From the national concert at My Dinh Stadium, where more than 50,000 spectators joined their voices in song, the emotions still linger to this day—pride, joy, and deep affection. Time may pass, but the memory and love for the Fatherland continue to burn quietly within Vietnamese people’s heart.

It was this enduring emotion that inspired the organisers to find ways to ensure those sacred feelings could be extended, shared, and kept alive, especially among younger generations. “From the very beginning, the organisers made meticulous preparations, reflected in every frame, camera angle, sound, and lighting effect,” said Nhan Dan Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh.

Sharing about the filmmaking process, Minh said that from the very beginning of conceptualising the concert, the organising committee had clearly defined the goal of creating a meticulously produced, large-scale, and captivating programme in every detail. Therefore, everything—from stage design, sound and lighting setup to song selection and artist lineup—was thoroughly and carefully prepared.

Beyond its grandeur, the organisers also sought to create a spiritual symbol—a performance that would allow everyone to share in the same patriotic pride and gratitude toward the generations who sacrificed for today’s peace and independence. After the concert concluded, the emotional resonance and powerful energy it generated inspired the idea to produce a concert film.

Nhan Dan Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief shared: “We understood that, normally, completing a film requires a great deal of time and effort. In this case, however, the entire team worked with the highest level of speed, responsibility, and passion to ensure that the emotional intensity of the event remained alive. Every frame and every angle reflects our respect and pride.”

The production team added that during the editing process, the moment when the audience sang the national anthem together deeply moved everyone—it felt like the very heartbeat of the nation.

At the film premiere, Dang Le Minh Tri, Chief Director of the concert “Homeland in Our Hearts”, said that for him, the film stands as an independent cinematic work infused with the rhythm of music and the breath of cinema.

The director shared: “I once thought that the emotions of that night at My Dinh Stadium could only exist in that singular moment—amid tens of thousands of voices singing together. But watching the film, I realised that some values still linger—in every glance, every gesture, every note. The language of cinema has preserved the purest essence of that night in a subtle and profound way, touching the hearts of every viewer.”

For the young director, “Homeland in Our Hearts” is one of the most special projects of his career, not only for its artistic and technical excellence but also for the collective emotional power it embodies—a value that cannot be staged or recreated.

A different kind of experience…

If the concert night was an explosion of sound, colour, and harmony, then the film offers audiences a chance to relive it through the rhythm of their own heartbeat. In theaters, the sound is mixed to cinematic standards—every voice, every note, and even the collective cheer of tens of thousands at My Dinh Stadium resonates vividly and fully.

Notably, aerial shots captured by drones and close-up camera angles allow viewers to witness moments even the live audience could not see that night: artists waiting quietly backstage, tears glistening in silence, eyes shining as they gaze up at the national flag…

The film crew did not merely re-edit footage of the concert, but they infused it with a cinematic soul, elevating the music and imagery into shared, living memories. More importantly, through the film, audiences rediscover themselves, their compatriots, and the collective emotion of a nation singing in unison for the homeland.

With this project, Nhan Dan Newspaper once again reaffirms its pioneering role in building a sustainable ecosystem that bridges media, culture, and the arts—celebrating creativity, spreading emotion, elevating awareness, and connecting people through the positive energy of faith and patriotism. As the film reaches its final moments, waves of applause ripple like rolling tides of emotion.

Leaving the cinema, hearts still burn with pride and affection. What makes “Homeland in Our Hearts: The Concert Film” even more meaningful is the compassion behind it: all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated by the organisers to the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Central Committee to support people affected by recent storms and floods.

This journey of spreading music and love for the homeland continues to kindle warmth amid trying times—turning every emotion of yesterday, today, and tomorrow into tender words and compassionate gestures sent to comrades and fellow citizens alike.

Expressing patriotism through meaningful action

Immediately after the film premiere, the production team engaged in a heartfelt exchange with the audience. Nhan Dan Newspaper’s Editor-in-chief Le Quoc Minh shared: “As Nhan Dan Newspaper organised a series of events celebrating national holidays, we realised the importance of reaching young people through modern language and technology. The young generation deeply loves their country, but they seek freshness and creativity. That’s why combining traditional stories with contemporary technology is essential to capture their attention. The concert “Homeland in Our Hearts” was born from that very idea. Personally, I have never participated in a performance with over 50,000 spectators like this one. On social media platforms, within just two months, the concert garnered around 2.5 billion views. With the release of the film, I believe its impact will spread even further.”

As artists who had the honour to perform in the concert, singer Quang Minh (from Oplus band) and young vocalist Dang Kim Thien Kim were overwhelmed with emotion as they relived those powerful, unforgettable moments at My Dinh National Stadium through the film.

Actor Viet Hoang, a familiar face to many TV viewers, shared that he regretted missing the live concert. Watching the film, however, gave him the chance to experience and reflect on the event from different perspectives. He was especially impressed by the reimagined songs, which, he said, “multiplied the sense of pride and patriotism across generations.”

Director Vu Liem recalled the immense challenges faced by the concert’s production team. He mentioned that three months earlier, director Dang Le Minh Tri had told him the project would be difficult—but no one anticipated just how enormous the workload would be.

The filmmakers could only capture a small part of those struggles and their greatest wish was to recreate those moments truthfully—to let the audience feel the spirit of unity and love for the homeland.

Co-director Nguyen Manh Tuan added that the film carries a message: patriotism should not remain an emotion alone—it must be transformed into concrete action by each individual.

Receiving warm applause, director Dang Le Minh Tri expressed deep gratitude: “This success belongs to everyone. So many people contributed to this project without ever appearing in the spotlight. They did it purely out of love for our country. I hope together we can continue creating even greater things in the future.”
