In his opening remarks, Zhang Deshan, Director of the Chinese Cultural Centre in Ha Noi, emphasised that under the strategic guidance of the senior leaders of the two countries, the 2026–2027 period has been designated as the “China-Viet Nam Tourism Cooperation Year.”
He described this as an important milestone in the history of cultural and tourism cooperation between the two countries, creating fresh momentum for enhancing tourism exchanges, strengthening friendship between the peoples of Viet Nam and China, and opening a new phase of deeper, more substantive, and mutually beneficial cooperation.
This year’s theme focuses on developing high-quality cultural and tourism products to meet people’s growing spiritual and cultural needs, while affirming tourism’s role in spreading civilisation, promoting cultural exchanges, and strengthening connectivity among nations.
According to Zhang Deshan, May 19 also marks the 136th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh, the great leader of the Vietnamese people and a close friend of the Chinese people. During his revolutionary activities in China, President Ho Chi Minh visited many places, including Guangzhou, Guilin, Liuzhou, Chongqing, Kunming, Nanning, Yan’an, and Hong Kong.
Many historical sites associated with President Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary activities have been preserved in China, serving as evidence of the traditional friendship between the two countries.
Speaking at the programme, Truong Quoc Hung, Chairman of the Ha Noi UNESCO Travel Club, noted that China is currently one of the world’s most dynamic and influential tourism markets.
The achievements of China’s tourism sector are reflected not only in its scale of development but also in its modern approach, which takes culture as its foundation, people as its centre, and international connectivity as the driving force for sustainable development.
In recent years, cultural and tourism exchanges between Viet Nam and China have helped to enhance mutual understanding, strengthen friendship, and expand cooperation opportunities between businesses and localities in both countries.
As part of the programme, representatives from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), China Southern Airlines, and other related businesses and organisations exchanged information and introduced their services to Vietnamese travel companies.
