On January 30, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh held talks with Cuban Minister of Justice Rosabel Gamón Verde. At the talks, both sides highly valued the results of bilateral cooperation over the past years, affirming that legal and judicial cooperation is a practical area for bilateral relations.
The two sides signed the Cooperation Programme between the two Ministries of Justice for the 2026–2027 period, creating a framework for implementing specific cooperation activities in the coming time.
On the same day, the two Ministries of Justice organised the launch ceremony for the Project on Technical Support for the Ministry of Justice of Cuba on Strengthening Capacity in Law-making and Law Enforcement. Accordingly, Deputy Minister of Justice Nguyen Thanh Tinh and Cuban Deputy Minister of Justice Pilar Alicia Varona signed the 2026 Activity Plan for the Project, marking the official implementation of technical cooperation contents.
On this occasion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh paid a courtesy call on President of the Supreme People's Court of Cuba Oscar Manuel Silveira Martínez. Both sides exchanged views on strengthening judicial cooperation between the two countries, particularly in judicial reform, law enforcement, capacity building for officials, and ensuring human rights and citizens' rights in judicial proceedings.
From February 2 to 4, the Vietnamese delegation attended the 5th International Congress JurisCuba 2026 in Havana. In his speech at the conference's opening ceremony, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh shared Viet Nam's experiences in perfecting laws to serve development, building a rule-of-law State, promoting digital transformation, and enhancing people's and businesses' access to law.
During their stay in Cuba, the delegation visited the Fidel Castro Centre, offered flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in Havana, and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba.
At his meeting with the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba, Ambassador Le Quang Long briefed the delegates on Cuba's socio-economic situation and the Vietnamese community there. For his part, Deputy Minister Nguyen Thanh Tinh highly appreciated the embassy's efforts in consolidating the special solidarity relations between Viet Nam and Cuba.
The working trip of Viet Nam's Ministry of Justice delegation to Cuba contributed to nurturing the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries in law and justice.
