The event gathered over 70 delegates from government agencies, state-owned enterprises, international organisations and the private sector aiming to promote the sustainable energy transition in Viet Nam.

Speaking at the event, EREA Deputy Director Tran Hoai Trang emphasised that Viet Nam is facing a great challenge in energy transition, but is also presented with an opportunity for sustainable development.

He added that developing renewable energy, especially wind and solar power, is an inevitable path to ensure energy security, achieve the net zero target and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Vietnamese government is perfecting the legal framework to promote the development of clean energy sources, including offshore wind power.

Viet Nam also sets a target to raise the total renewable energy capacity to 122,000 megawatts by 2030, accounting for more than half of the energy mix.

For her part, Norwegian Ambassador Hilde Solbakken affirmed the country’s commitment to stand alongside Viet Nam in its green transition process.

She said that the knowledge and global experience of the Norwegian certification company DNV will make active contributions to a low-emission and sustainable future for Viet Nam.

Brice Le Gallo, Vice President & Regional Director Asia Pacific Energy Systems at DNV, stated that Viet Nam is emerging as a centre of renewable energy in the region.

The workshop was expected to be not only a knowledge-sharing forum but also a strategic bridge between Viet Nam and the international community, helping to define policies and create a foundation for a sustainable energy future.
