The new route represents a strategic step in the National Flag Carrier’s plan to expand its international network, while strengthening connectivity between Viet Nam and the Netherlands — one of Europe’s most important economic, logistics, and aviation transit hubs.
According to the plan, from June 16, 2026, Viet Nam Airlines will operate three return flights per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using wide-body Airbus A350 aircraft. The flight schedule is designed to facilitate travel for passengers from Europe to Viet Nam, while ensuring convenient onward connections to the airline’s domestic and Asian regional network, including key tourism and economic destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, and many other major cities.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is among Europe’s largest aviation and logistics hubs, serving as a major gateway linking the region with North America, Africa, and many other important parts of the world.
In a context where take-off and landing slots at the airport are consistently constrained, Viet Nam Airlines’ successful allocation of slots reflects the carrier’s operational capability and credibility, while underscoring the growing standing of Viet Nam’s national airline within the international aviation industry.
Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Viet Nam Airlines, said: “The Ha Noi–Amsterdam direct route is an important milestone in Viet Nam Airlines’ strategy to expand its European network. Our presence at one of the world’s major aviation hubs not only opens new business opportunities for the airline, but also contributes to strengthening economic, trade, investment, and people-to-people ties between Viet Nam and the Netherlands, as well as the wider European region.”
The launch of the Ha Noi–Amsterdam service will bring the total number of direct routes connecting Viet Nam with Europe to 12, serving eight destinations: Paris, Frankfurt, London, Munich, Milan, Copenhagen, Moscow, and Amsterdam. This further reinforces Viet Nam Airlines’ role as a reliable air bridge between Viet Nam and the world. Through its steadily expanding international network, the carrier is not only offering passengers more convenient travel options but also making a meaningful contribution to Viet Nam’s integration process, economic development, and the promotion of the country’s image on the global stage.
