On May 20 and 21, the delegation held meetings and working sessions with the Central Office of Measures (GUM) under the Ministry of Development and Technology of Poland. Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland Ha Hoang Hai also attended the sessions.
At the working session, Andrzej Kurkiewicz, Director of the Innovation and Development Department of the GUM, presented the office’s functions, tasks, research and development (R&D) activities, as well as its development orientations. He also shared experience in developing national metrology infrastructure, applying modern technologies in verification, calibration, and scientific research in support of State management and business operations.
Chairman of STAMEQ Nguyen Nam Hai discussed with the Central Office of Measures under the Ministry of Development and Technology of Poland the possibility of cooperation in scientific research, technology transfer, and enhanced connectivity between specialised laboratories of the two sides.
Ambassador Ha Hoang Hai thanked the GUM for its warm reception and for sharing useful information with the Vietnamese delegation. He expressed his belief that stronger cooperation between the GUM and the STAMEQ, towards the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two sides in the coming time, would help promote Viet Nam–Poland cooperation in the field of standards, metrology, and quality in a more substantive and effective manner.
As part of the working visit to Poland, on May 21, the STAMEQ delegation visited GUM’s laboratory complex in the city of Kielce. There, GUM introduced a range of modern technologies, equipment, and machinery serving research, testing, and calibration in advanced metrology fields. The Vietnamese delegation spoke highly of the centre’s facilities, research capacity and modern operating model, considering them useful experience for the development of national metrology infrastructure and the enhancement of science and technology capacity in Viet Nam.
On this occasion, Ambassador Ha Hoang Hai received the delegation. At the meeting, he briefed the delegation on the situation and prospects of cooperation between the two countries, as well as Poland’s potential and strengths in science and technology in general and in the field of standards and metrology in particular.
