In his opening address, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat underlined that AI has become one of the key technologies of the fourth industrial revolution, which is transforming socio-economic development.
He noted that AI has seen tremendous advances in recent years with a wide variety of AI-based products and applications.
In Vietnam, the Prime Minister issued a national strategy on AI research, development and application until 2030 in January 2021, aiming to make Vietnam a bright spot in AI throughout the region and the world.
According to Minister Dat, Vietnam has achieved encouraging results after two years of implementing the strategy, with the Oxford Insights Government AI Readiness Index jumping by seven places in 2022 to rank 55 among 181 countries.
The Vietnam AI Summit was held for the first time in 2018 and has now become an annual event that brings together managers, experts, scientists, enterprises and investors to discuss AI-related issues.
The event is also expected to connect ministries and enterprises in introducing policies to support the development of AI in Vietnam.
