Speaking with the Finnish official, Deputy Minister Dung stated that the Vietnamese Government always regards vocational training as a key area to enhance its human resources.

He added that Vietnam’s vocational education system has grown strongly in terms of both number and quality, with more than 1,900 facilities, including 410 vocational colleges.

According to Deputy Minister Dung, the government has approved a vocational education strategy for the 2021-2030 period with a view to develop vocational training to meet the diverse needs of the labour market.

For his part, Finnish Education Ambassador Marjiaana Sall said vocational training is a very popular choice in Finland, with around 50% of high school graduates following this path, since the country’s vocational programme is based on practical needs and operates in close cooperation with enterprises.

After discussing, the two sides agreed on the organisation of activities to link vocational education facilities with enterprises and the labour market, and to connect Vietnamese vocational schools with Finnish enterprises in Vietnam.

In the future, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs will continue fine-tuning the vocational education system by developing high-quality schools for key trades.
