“Vietnam Day: the history of friendship” festival promotes Vietnam - Azerbaijan ties

A festival entitled “Vietnam Day: the history of friendship” was organised by the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Vietnam at the one of the most popular shopping centres - the “Sharg Bazari” in Baku, Azerbaijan on July 18.

The festival was held during the same period when 64 years ago President Ho Chi Minh visited Baku. Next year the two countries will mark the anniversary of their establishment of friendly relations.

The event which was broadcasted by leading TV channels attracted over 200 guests. Guests from Vietnam were also invited to appear on popular TV programmes to talk more about the country and the friendship between the two countries.

At the event, the guests were invited to watch short videos based on the archive records of visits of the National Leader of Azerbaijani people and significant friend of Vietnam Heydar Aliyev to Vietnam as head of the Soviet Union delegation supporting Vietnam in strengthening its independence and economic development. This year is also the 40th anniversary of that historic visit.

Vietnamese “Flamingo” Touristic holdings and the Vietnam Chef Federation participated as special guests at the event, designed to inform more Azerbaijani citizens about the friendly nation of Vietnam, its culture, cuisine, tourism and traditions.

President of Vietnam Chef Federation Nguyen Xuan Quynh and Vice President of the "Flamingo" company Nguyen Van Anh, and private entrepreneur Le Trung Kien informed the guests about Vietnam and invited them to visit the country. The visit of Vietnamese companies also will give birth to joint projects in tourism and culinary affairs in order to boost tourist visits in both directions.

The event was accompanied by an exhibition of Vietnamese national gifts, souvenirs, clothes (hats, Ao Dai women's clothing, coffee and tea drinks). After the event, well-Known international Chef “Don David” served the guests and customers with some of the most famous dishes of Vietnamese cuisine (Pho Bo soup, Spring rolls, chicken grill, fried rice).

Coffee and tea drinks from different Vietnam, one of the main coffee exporters in the world, from many producers and provided by the “Saiomi Du” company were also served to Baku residents and guests from the city. Along with food, the most popular Vietnamese songs were performed by a young singer from Ho Chi Minh City - Sevinch Orujova.

The Embassy also expressed its gratitude to Turkish Airlines, the Vietnam College of Tourism and Commerce, the Merchant Hotel, the Shirvanshah Hotel, the “Don David” barbecue school, and the “Saiomi Du” company for their support and advice in organising the festival.
