The event will be organised by the French company Iriscommsex in collaboration with the Cinema Department and the French Embassy in Vietnam.

Under the framework of Vietnamese Year in France 2014, the festival aims to further promote co-operation between Vietnam and France in the fields of film production and tourism, as well as contributing to promote the image of Vietnam’s landscape, culture and people to international friends.

The French audience will have an opportunity to enjoy films, made during the last two decades, which are considered to reflect important historical events and the development of Vietnam-France relations as well as the growth of Vietnam's film industry. Some of these films have won prizes at international film festivals.

In addition, several films on the theme of Vietnam made by French directors or overseas Vietnamese in France will also be screened during the event.

A series of activities such as exhibitions, meetings and seminars is to be held during the festival.
