The information was announced by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour (VGCL) at a July 24 press conference on the two big programmes marking the 89th founding anniversary of the VGCL (July 28, 1929-2018) and the 12th Congress of the VGCL, including the "Vietnam Glory" and the third Nguyen Duc Canh Awards.
The "Vietnam Glory" programme, themed "Imprints of works", will recognise and honour the collectives and individuals who have made special contributions to the cause of national construction and protection tied to the great works, thereby sparking the spirit of patriotism, determination and creative labour for the development of the country, and for the goal of building a powerful nation of wealthy people and a democratic, equal and civilised society.
The honoured works will be "Ho Chi Minh Road", "North-South 500kV transmission line", "Vietnam's telecom satellites" (VINASAT-1, VINASAT-2), "Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant", "Vietnam's 1:200,000 geological map and mineral resources map", "Vietnam encyclopedia", "Vietnam's jack-up drilling rigs", "Selection and development of two news rice varieties of high quality and productivity, OM6976 and OM5451", "Vietnam's Extended Program on Immunisation".
In addition, the VGCL will hold a ceremony on the evening of July 26 to present the Nguyen Duc Canh Awards 2018 to 70 workers and engineers directly involved in the production process.
According to VGCL Vice-President Mai Duc Chinh, this year's awards winners are hard-working labourers who always aspire to research improvements to techniques and work out many initiatives in production, aiming to increase labour productivity, save materials and improve working conditions, thereby contributing to enhancing the material and spiritual life of themselves and sustainably developing businesses.
On the occasion, the Prime Minister will present certificates of merit to 30 individuals whose initiatives and innovations have been applied in reality and generated highly profitable values.
