During the week-long series of events honouring women at EXPO on the occasion of International Women's Day (March 8), the Vietnam Pavilion at EXPO became the focus of attention when it was honoured to with a visit from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Ruler of Dubai - a special guest that any country attending the EXPO looks forward to welcoming. The iconic event marks the highest recognition from the host country UAE to a country participating in the EXPO.
After more than five months of participation in EXPO 2020 Dubai, the Vietnam Pavilion, operated by the Department of International Cooperation under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, has demonstrated the potential and position of Vietnam, becoming one of the "bright stars" at "Opportunity District" in EXPO 2020 Dubai.
The Director of the Vietnam Pavilion introduced activities to honour women at the Vietnam Pavilion under the theme "Breaking boundaries, leading together", such as a parade around the EXPO road frame with the participation of more than 40 women from 10 ASEAN countries, or the designing of the "Wall of Dreams" for visitors to share their messages, dreams and aspirations to the world. The Vietnam Pavilion has gained special attention when organising one of the most attractive and large-scale National Day at EXPO. Vietnam also showed its dynamism when it initiated and hosted many international and ASEAN activities within the framework of the EXPO 2020 Dubai.
During its journey, the Vietnam Pavilion also resonated with the most unique and attractive Vietnamese cuisine in the EXPO, in addition to a young and dynamic team of operators and an excellent ethnic band who performed on the biggest stages at EXPO.
As a result, in addition to the regular daily visits of international visitors, the Vietnam Pavilion was honoured to welcome the heads of state and high-ranking officials from the many countries who chose and prioritise visiting the Vietnam Pavilion from among the 192 international pavilions at the EXPO.
Welcoming Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is an honour that not all pavilions at EXPO 2020 are fortunate enough to receive.

In 2014, after Dubai overcame strong candidates to become the host country of the EXPO 2020, Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed shared in a separate interview with the BBC that being the host of EXPO 2020 not only proves that Dubai and UAE shine, but, having 160 countries vote for Dubai sends a strong message of their faith in the UAE and in Dubai, now is the time for Dubai and UAE to do more to repay that trust through making the best EXPO. He really became the creator of miracles and records of this EXPO, even after the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and delayed it by one year. His presence at any pavilion in the EXPO is a celebration and thanks for contributing to the realisation of what he has cherished for many years.
The visit of the Ruler of Dubai also has great media significance in Dubai and the UAE as Sheikh Mohammed is the image and symbol of the country.
