With their project on exploiting energy from nano friction, the Vietnamese delegation — including Truong Thanh An, Phan The Quan (grade 11 Physics 2), Pham Quang Vu, Ho Huu Dung, and Pham Duc Anh (grade 10 Physics 2) of Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted — was presented with the Grand Prix Award (given to the top 1% of teams in the competition) by the Jury.

With the desire to create an environmentally friendly source of electricity from daily human activities, the students researched and tested the model in the laboratory under the guidance of teachers from the Vietnam Physics Association.

Thanks to their creative ideas and practical research results, the project of the Vietnamese Student Delegation was highly appreciated by the International Jury.

WICO is an annual competition established and organised by the Korean University Invention Association with sponsorship from the Korean National Assembly.

The event provides a playground for high school and university students with creative and highly applicable scientific projects.
